A Beacon of Hope:
The year was 2004 when a category 5 cyclone called Heta, unleashed its unrelenting force on Niue Island and its residents. The natural beauty around the island was severely devastated from this disaster. Complete destruction transformed the landscape and what was once a flourishing green environment.
Many vanilla plantations sustained significant damages. The process of recovering from Cyclone Heta for many farmers were diminishing and the industry soon came to a stop. This loss of hope was contagious which had hindered farmers to reconsider vanilla farming in Niue. With a selective few that persevered with vanilla farming, a handful of farmers approached the future founder of NIUE Vanilla International (NVI), to assist in buying vanilla pods.
This is where NVI first began to take shape before our brand NIUE Vanilla Organic was developed. Other vanilla farmers who persevered took notice of this incident and began selling their vanilla pods to us.
In an effort to continue helping Niuean vanilla farmers and to provide their families with a sense of development for the local vanilla industry. NIUE Vanilla International will strive to work together in partnership with all stakeholders, encouraging Niueans to progressively revive the Niue Vanilla Industry and generate a reliable flow of income to the country and its people.
